So how do I get started?
The most common way to get started is to click on the link for the sermon you want to listen to. However, we would not recommend this if you are not familiar with your computer. See the second paragraph for a different way.

  • If you do just click on the link, most computers will have a little dialog box popup that asks you if you want to open it or save it. It is also common for it to automatically start downloading to a temporary file on your harddrive.
The problem with this is that after it loads 33% of the file, it will start playing. After it plays for a little while, it will pause and start downloading more. This is a disruptive way to listen to a sermon, so we would recommend the following:
  • To save the file to your computer, right click on the link. This will bring up a menu where you will see something like "Save Target As". Select this option. It will then ask you where you want to save the file. Save it somewhere where you will be able to find it easily (remember, this is a large file and might take a while depending on your internet connection). After it is done saving, it will bring up a window with an option to open the file or close. Click "Open" and it will start playing. This option is recommended because it allows for a seamless flow of the sermon and you can also listen to it anytime you want. If you do not want it to take up your computer's memory, simply delete the file after you are done listening to it!

What is the difference between mp3 and wma?

.mp3 and .wma are just types of media file formats. They are played in different types of media players (however, some media players support both formats). Because there is no substancial difference in the size of the file, it doesn't matter what you choose. If you are operating in Windows, and have Windows Media Player, choose .wma (I would recommend this choice no matter what media player you have).

What if I don't have Windows?
If you not have the Windows operating system, you probably know how to listen to sound on your computer. The .mp3 files can be played on many different operating systems platforms, so select that file format.

What if it doesn't do anything?
It's probably doing something, but you don't know it yet - especially if you have a very slow internet connection. Wait a minute and if there is still nothing happening, right click on the link and follow the second step of the how to.

How do I listen without being on the internet?
To listen to the file when you are disconnected from the internet, you must first save the sermon to your computer when you ARE on the internet. Once it is saved on your computer, you can listen to it anytime you want. Click here for details. If you don't want to save the file after you listen to it, just delete it and if you do want to save it, you can keep it on your hard drive or burn it onto a CD (a CD burner is required to do this).
